Emotions and Decisions: Not Entirely A Good Combination!

Attending Bro. Bo's The Feast in PICC has always been fun and enlightening. Imagine attending a mass in an air conditioned convention center with a lot of people smiling and singing praises for the Lord. But the most exciting part are the topics discussed during the worship! This month was about emotions and luckily today I was able to attend the talk about Emotions and Decisions.

In the talk, I realized that many, if not most, of my decisions were made out of emotions. And there are a few that I regret of doing and saying. I regret those because I let emotions influence my decisions. Bro. Bo said that when faced with such a situation and I'm feeling a lot of emotions, i just need to step back and separate myself for a few minutes, hours or even days to let the emotion subside. And during that gap, he instructed to do the following:

1. See yourself from a 3rd person point of view just like watching a black and white TV and your situation is the story. This will let you see yourself in the bigger picture, how you got there and what is happening around.
2. Fast forward the scenes a little. See yourself in the situation after letting your emotion decide for you. See the implications of your decisions.
3. Now, turn around and see a big HD TV. Turn it on and watch an alternative scenario where you let Jesus guide you in making your decision. See all the beautiful things in store for you when you let Him guide you and lead you to the correct decision!

Regret is not fun to feel. And sometimes it lingers longer than your fondest memory. So before saying or doing something you may regret in the end, remember that not to let temporary emotions affect long term decisions. So, just step back and let Jesus show you the way.

Lets love life and Live it for the Glory of God.
